Inspection Lead

Join us as an Inspection Lead in the dynamic Oil & Gas sector, where you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of a major pipeline project. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of specialists in a full-time contract position located in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, contributing to the East African Crude Oil Pipeline project, a significant development in the region.

Role Overview

  • Define and review maintenance inspection philosophy.

  • Establish contacts, processes, and audit plans according to standards and local requirements.

  • Participate in the recruitment process and selection of the inspection team.

  • Establish inspection services contracts required for the EACOP inspection plan.

  • Coordinate inspection entities across Tanzania and Uganda.

  • Analyze and optimize inspection activities for efficiency.

  • Review management of change requests.

  • Select and review risk-based inspection tools for EACOP assets.

  • Ensure lifting registers, flexible registers, and temporary repair databases are up to date.

  • Ensure welding qualifications, materials, and procedures for pipeline emergency repairs are current.

  • Act as the focal point for inspection and corrosion exchange.

  • Review inspection programs, intelligent pigging operations, and partial field shutdowns.

  • Participate in the preparation of the maintenance inspection budget.

  • Review inspection reports, including analysis of findings and recommendations for remedial actions.

  • Participate in technical audits of contracted companies regarding Non-Destructive Testing, welding, piping/pressure vessel fabrication, and coating.

  • Review recommendations for corrective actions regarding materials, design, coating, cathodic protection, operating conditions, and corrosion inhibition.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, company rules, technical codes, and norms for repairs/modifications/procurement of equipment.

  • Manage team and resources effectively.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Inspection: Extensive knowledge of inspection methodologies and practices.

  • Onshore Pipeline Expertise: Proficient in large diameter pipeline inspections.

  • Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with ASME, API, NACE standards.

  • Risk-Based Inspection: Understanding of RBI methodology.

  • CMIMS Proficiency: Experience with Computerized Maintenance & Inspection Management Systems.

  • Non-Destructive Testing: Knowledge of various NDT techniques and applications.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanics or Materials Engineering with emphasis on mechanics, materials, metallurgy, and corrosion.

  • Knowledge of Oil & Gas process equipment and technology.

  • Good understanding of international codes, standards, and regulations related to inspection disciplines (ASME, API, NACE).

  • Proficiency in oral and written English.
