Join a leading refinery in the heart of Superior, Wisconsin, as a Contract Lab Chemist, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of fuels and petroleum products.

Role Overview

  • Participate in all refinery safety & health initiatives.
  • Perform routine and QC testing as directed by the Chemists.
  • Document all testing results in the Laboratory Information Management System.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory instruments, equipment, and areas.
  • Perform routine maintenance on instruments and assist with complex repairs.
  • Write Safe Work Permits for maintenance activities.
  • Assist with QC administration, writing procedures, ordering supplies, and training.
  • Assist with inventory control and write work requests for maintenance.
  • Support tank sampling as needed.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple samples simultaneously.
  • Time Management: Meet testing deadlines effectively.
  • Communication: Relay precise and accurate information to the team.
  • Organizational Skills: Keep track of and report results accurately.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure accuracy in all testing processes.
  • Independence: Ability to work autonomously.
  • Basic Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Scientific Skills: Apply formulas and identify significant figures.

Education & Experience

  • B.S. in Chemistry (preferred).
  • 4-year science-related degree with 20+ credits in general and organic Chemistry classes with labs.
  • 2-4 years of laboratory experience.

Pay & Benefits

  • Full-time contract position with a schedule of 40 hours/week, potential for occasional 12-hour shifts as needed.
