Our client is seeking a Lab Technician to join their facilities in Allentown, PA, for a 3?month internship.



JOB SUMMARY

The position exists to support lab experimentation associated with the development and transfer of technology from lab scale to commercialization. The incumbent will be involved in lab operations including chemical synthesis, purification and analysis. The candidate will be required to function effectively independently and in work teams. The position is responsible for safe operation of their lab unit and thorough documentation of observations and results.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Laboratory synthesis in support of new product development, cost reduction and optimization projects. Day to day direction given by lead researches; Work focuses on reaction fundamentals, operating limit determinations and separations; Need a strong focus and recognition of lab hazards.
  • Participation in design hazard reviews.
  • Analysis of laboratory and plant samples using various techniques including but not limited to chromatography, spectroscopy, rheology and titrations.
  • Mechanical construction of laboratory setups and equipment including working with compression fittings and small gauge tubing.
  • Documentation of laboratory results, collection of lab data, some basic calculations and interpretation of results.
  • Active participation in lab safety program including training, laboratory inspections, job safety analysis, identification of hazard potentials and task observations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently obtaining a BS or Associates degree in Chemistry or similar field.
  • Experience working in a chemical laboratory environment (can include academic laboratory as part of independent research or degree program).
  • Good verbal and written communications skills Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Some knowledge of laboratory control systems and analytical instrumentation is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.


Schedule

:

Mon to Fri 7am to 3pm - there is some flexibility in start and end time.


Additionally, depending on project work hours may be heavier on Mon to Thurs, with shorter day on Friday.
