Laboratory Technician II – Friendswood, TX
Our client is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to work within their facilities located in Friendswood, TX, for an initial one-year assignment.
Position Summary
The Laboratory Technician II performs essential laboratory duties including wet chemistry, sample preparation, and analytical testing to support plant operations and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) requirements. This role includes operating and maintaining laboratory instruments, preparing reagents and standards, documenting results, and ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The role works under moderate direction and requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and adherence to safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
Sample Handling & Preparation
- Receive, inspect, inventory, and prepare incoming field samples for testing.
- Retrieve samples from storage and ensure accurate sample tracking.

S. - Prepare samples via centrifugation, aliquoting, weighing, and packaging for shipments; record weights and dimensions (DIMS).
Analytical Testing

S testing on small-volume samples (SAR not required) and log results. - Perform H

S testing on large-volume samples (SAR required). - Execute NORM testing using a Geiger counter.
- Conduct API Gravity measurements.
- Perform Total Sulfur analysis.
- Assist with additional wet chemistry and analytical procedures as needed.
Equipment & Facility Support
- Perform calibration, cleaning, and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.

stock chemical reagents, consumables, and general lab supplies. - Support waste management activities, including labeling and relocating waste to designated facilities.
- Operate forklifts and act as a spotter when necessary.
- Maintain housekeeping standards across lab and work areas (sweeping, trash removal, crate breakdown, pallet organization).
Special Projects
- Transport samples from Building 15B to designated temporary storage areas.
- Update and maintain cylinder inventory, including shelving locations for efficient retrieval.
- Support housekeeping and organization efforts in Building 15C.
- Assist with equipment inspections (e.g., forklifts, Taylor Dunn electric cart).
Skills & Qualifications
- Polytechnic diploma or technical certification in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related Technical fields.
- Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to learn laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Experience with QA/QC systems preferred.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols, especially related to chemical handling, H
