About the Role
As the Lead Business Development, you will guide market strategy and drive growth within the Gas Distribution & Storage (GDS) industrial segment in Ohio. You will work closely with industrial customers, helping them succeed while expanding business opportunities and strengthening long?term relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement long?term account strategies for major industrial customers.
- Lead the complete sales cycle—including prospecting, solution development, closing, project execution, and ongoing relationship management.
Customer Focus
- Anticipate customer needs, identify emerging trends, and provide insights to internal teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact to ensure an excellent customer experience.
Cross?Functional Collaboration
- Work with operations, engineering, regulatory, marketing, and customer service teams to deliver integrated, customer?centric solutions.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high?performing sales team.
- Set clear performance expectations and provide coaching for continuous improvement.
Performance Management
- Track performance against sales targets, customer satisfaction, revenue goals, and operational efficiency.
- Use data and insights to refine strategies and drive growth.
External Engagement
- Represent the company at industry events, customer forums, and regulatory discussions to enhance market presence.
Who You Are
- 10+ years of experience in business development, preferably in utilities or the energy sector.
- Strong leadership experience, including managing people or large initiatives.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including influencing executives without formal authority.
- Proven track record of meeting sales targets and achieving market growth.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Accounting, or a related field.
- Familiarity with regulatory environments, industry stakeholders, and competitive landscapes.
- Strong ability to see the broader customer context and create comprehensive strategies.
