Position: Lead Interface Engineer

Job Purpose
The Lead Interface Engineer is responsible for establishing, coordinating, and resolving all technical interface issues between internal and external disciplines across the FPSO consortium for a major capital project. The role supports the Interface Manager to ensure timely resolution of technical, commercial, and schedule-related interface matters to enable safe, compliant, and efficient project delivery.
Principal Accountabilities
Interface Identification & Management
- Identify all incoming and outgoing interface points for assigned packages.
- Define physical, functional, and operational boundaries.
- Ensure clear representation of interfaces in drawings, documentation, and 3D models.
- Establish and maintain the Interface Register and Interface List as primary tracking tools.
- Monitor and track all interface-related deliverables (data issuance, load summaries, control philosophies, etc.) with proper revision control.
Technical Coordination & Alignment
- Review and validate interface information from consortium members to ensure efficient resolution of engineering issues.
- Ensure technical alignment across disciplines and consortium member technical solutions.
- Adjudicate differences in design approaches and escalate unresolved issues to the Interface Manager.
- Identify critical interface data needed by system design participants.
Meetings, Workshops & Agreements
- Coordinate and conduct interface workshops and technical alignment meetings.
- Align procedures, specifications, and design assumptions with stakeholders.
- Raise Interface Queries (IQs) when clarification is required.
- Document decisions, agreements, and resolutions.
- Coordinate interface agreements and ensure formal closeout.
Quality, Compliance & Change Management
- Act as focal point for quality management audits of engineering activities.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and standardization are maintained across deliverables.
- Manage technical deviations and the change management process to ensure contractual and regulatory requirements are not impacted.
Cross-Functional & Cross-Phase Coordination
- Manage technical interfaces between engineering and procurement teams to ensure supplier compliance.
- Participate in Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), supplier clarifications, and negotiations.
- Support design verification and interface with Certification/Classification Authorities.
- Establish communication protocols between construction sites and design centres.
- Coordinate interfaces between engineering, fabrication, construction, and mechanical completion teams.
- Attend construction site technical meetings and follow up on major interface issues affecting engineering, procurement, or construction schedules.
Project Support
- Provide the Project Director with input on scope gaps, anomalies, and issues impacting regulatory compliance or certification.
- Supervise Interface Engineers and oversee the project-specific interface management process.
Experience Requirements
- 10–18 years in technical discipline or facilities engineering roles.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in Offshore Oil & Gas EPC project execution.
- 10–18 years of FPSO experience.
- Participation in minimum of 3 FPSO projects across relevant phases.
- 7–10 years of experience in engineering management roles.
