Lead Mechanical Engineer

About the Company
The role
We’re seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support a major brownfields expansion of a gold processing operation — one of the most iconic open-cut gold projects in Australia.
This role will be working in a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for checking detailed design and providing technical leadership in the delivery of mineral processing infrastructure for a Super Pit-scale project.
Key Responsibilities
· Leading and executing mechanical design packages across crushing, milling, CIL, elution, and materials handling systems
· Working closely with process, structural, and drafting teams to produce fit-for-purpose, constructible designs
· Preparing design calculations, equipment datasheets, scopes of work, and technical specifications
· Reviewing vendor data, managing interfaces, and ensuring alignment with client standards and Australian codes
· Providing technical support through design reviews, model checks, and constructability assessments
· Acting as a key technical contact during the design phase and supporting pre-construction queries as required
What you'll need to succeed
· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
· Extensive experience in detailed mechanical design within gold or base metals projects
· Strong background in brownfields projects or expansions within operating plants
· Proven ability to work within multidisciplinary engineering teams
· Familiarity with Australian Standards, plant layout principles, and vendor engagement
· Ability to manage multiple design packages concurrently under tight deadlines
· EPC experience
