The Role
The Lead Structural Engineer is a newly created position designed to help build and expand the organisation’s structural engineering capability within the mining and minerals sector in the East Coast. The role carries both technical and leadership responsibilities, including:
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and advise on construction methodologies and sequencing plans in collaboration with site teams and contractors.
- Carry out detailed structural analysis and design to ensure safety, compliance, and constructability.
- Assess the performance and behaviour of materials during various construction phases.
- Work with engineers, designers, and consultants to deliver fully integrated and coordinated engineering solutions.
- Review engineering drawings, design calculations, and technical documentation for quality and accuracy.
- Assist with tender preparation and contribute to securing new project opportunities.
- Liaise with clients, regulatory authorities, and project stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
- Apply project management principles to meet project milestones and deliverables to the required standard and timeframe.
- Prepare and review technical reports and documentation.
- Maintain financial oversight of allocated projects, including resource planning, billing, and forecasting.
- Identify and manage technical and commercial risks for both the organisation and its clients.
- Manage small to medium?scale consulting projects, including responsibility for resources, budgets, quality, and outcomes.
- Lead and coordinate internal engineering teams and contribute to interdisciplinary workshops and risk assessments.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable legislation, industry standards, internal systems, and corporate requirements.
- Represent the organisation professionally, building confidence in stakeholders and demonstrating the value the team delivers.
About You
You will be a senior contributor within the structural engineering team, applying your expertise across a wide range of studies and project phases. You bring not only technical capability but also leadership qualities, client confidence, and a commitment to delivering practical and buildable solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 10–15 years of relevant structural engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of Australian standards and construction safety principles.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software with the ability to produce clear, accurate engineering documentation.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering practical, constructible solutions under site and project constraints.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, particularly with contractors and site?based teams.
- A proactive, practical, and hands?on engineering approach.
- Well?established professional relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders within Queensland (highly advantageous).
