Maintenance Senior Engineering Specialist PVV - Piping, Vessels and Valves
Position Overview
This position is responsible for leading the PVV (Piping, Vessels and Valves) Engineering Specialist team in a major oil and gas LNG facility. The role exists to ensure personnel safety, environmental protection, technical integrity of equipment, and best-in-class maintenance strategies are executed and aligned with industry standards and the company’s operational expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the PVV Engineering Specialist Team and support compliance with company HSE policies, confidentiality, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and guide all PVV and Mechanical maintenance operations to ensure facilities are maintained at minimum cost and maximum safety.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, production, efficiency, and compliance within the PVV domain, proposing and executing improvements according to agreed programmes.
Quality Compliance & Oversight
- Participate in risk assessment, HAZOPs, technical reviews, near miss analyses, incident and accident investigations, and safety audits as required.
- Ensure the implementation and regular review of maintenance documentation, policies, safety manuals, and technical procedures.
- Validate and approve maintenance procedures and confirm their correct application in all maintenance tasks.
Project Execution Support
- Supervise quality control during maintenance activities and ensure necessary documentation is archived appropriately.
- Advise Plant Maintenance and Reliability teams in solving technical problems, contributing technical expertise on equipment failures to enhance plant reliability.
- Support adequate provision and review of spare parts, materials, and technical resources necessary for efficient execution of all maintenance operations.
Reporting & Performance Management
- Coordinate the preparation and update of monthly reports on key performance indicators such as corrective actions, costs, and budget follow-up for upper management submission.
- Oversee the technical work scope of PVV contracts and provide input on contractor pre-qualification, selection, and supervision of vendors for specialist services.
- Initiate and implement modification proposals to improve technical integrity and reliability of facilities in line with the company strategic objectives.
Training & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to the identification of training needs, develop and ensure implementation of approved development programmes for the PVV team, especially for national employees.
- Set objectives for team members, conduct regular reviews and end-of-year appraisals to ensure performance aligns with company standards.
- Promote a safety-driven organizational culture through example, mandatory HSE trainings, and application of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education in Mechanical Engineering or related, together with international standard experience.
- At least 20 years of specific maintenance experience in the oil, gas, or petrochemical industry.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in LNG producing plants (not terminals).
Key Competencies
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical oil & gas / LNG equipment maintenance and repair methods, including valves, piping systems, packaged equipment, tanks, MCHE, heat exchangers, air coolers, fired heaters, cold boxes, and loading arms.
- Extensive understanding of international codes and standards applicable in the oil and gas sector.
- Strong capability in using maintenance software (e.g., CMMS/SAP) and relevant computer applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proven ability to manage contractor and vendor relationships, ensuring compliance, safety, and performance against contractual requirements.
