Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician II to support Permian upstream operations. This role focuses on emissions compliance, troubleshooting, and surface equipment reliability. The position is initially a 12-month contract with the potential to transition into a permanent role based on performance.

The ideal candidate will have experience in upstream oil & gas operations, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work in a rotational, field-based environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform LDAR (Leak Detection and Repair) surveys for EPA regulatory compliance (~200 surveys per quarter) and complete associated repairs
  • Respond to fixed-wing and satellite emission findings, troubleshoot and repair issues
  • Conduct twice-daily flare pilot status monitoring and perform flare repairs
  • Monitor tank pressures (oil and water) twice daily and resolve upset conditions
  • Coordinate temporary chemical injection skids with vendors, including grounding equipment and pre-startup safety reviews
  • Oversee batch chemical treatments
  • Perform data-driven analysis to identify surface failures, trends, and root cause failure analysis
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, automation, and operations teams to eliminate repeat failures
  • Complete ELDER surveys quarterly and handle field-associated repairs and minor maintenance
  • Plan and organize daily work activities, ensuring compliance with emissions programs

Basic / Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of upstream oil & gas operations
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Surface equipment troubleshooting
    • Automation and flare system troubleshooting (<50V)
    • Repairs and maintenance of production equipment
  • Ability to interpret production data and work with separators, compressors, and valves
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Excel, Outlook, email)
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in similar roles (Reliability Technician, Emissions Technician, ELDER Specialist, Lease Operator, or Production Technician)
  • Prior experience with BP is a plus
  • Open to candidates from all locations (relocation acceptable)
