We are seeking a Market Expansion & Business Development Manager to help establish and grow our energy trading presence in the China market.
Based in Singapore, you will play a key role in building our China-focused trading capability from the ground up — including setting up a new entity, securing market access, establishing local partnerships, and supporting early commercial development.
This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial role for someone who thrives in building new markets and driving commercial growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Market Entry & Entity Setup (0-1 Build)
- Lead the setup of a new operating entity to support China-focused trading activities.
- Manage registrations, basic licensing steps, and foundational requirements for market access.
- Oversee the process for registering with relevant exchanges, platforms, and trading counterparties.
- Support the creation of simple internal processes for compliance, operations, and commercial readiness.
2. Business Development & Commercial Growth
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in China’s energy and commodity markets.
- Build strong relationships with potential clients, partners, and key market participants.
- Support commercial discussions, proposals, and the early stages of deal execution.
3. External Engagement
- Serve as the Singapore-based contact point for China-related market engagement.
- Represent the company to external stakeholders including brokers, partners, and industry institutions.
4. Internal Coordination
- Collaborate with trading, legal, risk, finance, and operations teams to align market entry activities.
- Provide insights and market feedback to shape our China market expansion strategy.
Requirements
- Experience in business development, market expansion, or commercial roles (energy/commodities preferred).
- Exposure to roles involving new market setup, entity establishment, or early-stage operational build-out is a plus.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple initiatives.
- Interest in China’s energy and commodity market environment.
What You Bring
- Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to build from scratch.
- Strong ownership, structured thinking, and practical problem-solving ability.
- Capacity to drive projects and collaborate across teams.
- Motivation to help shape a new market presence in an international setting.
