Airswift is seeking a Project Controls Lead to work for a major mining client on a 2-year contract.
Role Overview
The Master Project Scheduler is responsible for the development, control, and reporting of the integrated master schedule for a major project. The role supports all project phases, with particular emphasis on shutdown planning and execution, ensuring schedule integrity, transparency, and timely decision support for the Owner’s team. This is a site-based role requiring strong field engagement, close collaboration withcontractors and discipline leads, and hands-on schedule control using Primavera P6.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule Development & Baseline
• Review the existing feasibility schedule and collaborate with the constructor and project team to improve definition for shutdown execution.
• Develop a fully logic-linked, resource-loaded master schedule in Primavera P6
covering pre-shutdown, shutdown, and post-shutdown activities.
• Establish and maintain the approved baseline schedule, including assumptions, constraints, interfaces, and dependencies.
Schedule Control & Field Integration
• Be site-based and actively monitor construction and shutdown progress in the field.
• Validate progress, update actuals, and maintain accurate schedule status.
• Perform variance analysis, identify schedule risks, and develop recovery and mitigation plans.
• Maintain and control schedule changes, logic revisions, and updates.
Reporting & Lookahead Planning
• Produce weekly schedule updates, lookahead reports, and progress summaries.
• Prepare monthly executive reports, including schedule performance, risks, and forecast completion dates.
• Support the preparation of schedule inputs to management and governance reviews.
Collaboration & Coordination
• Work closely with the Owner, constructor, contractors, and discipline leads to resolve schedule conflicts and interface issues.
• Facilitate schedule review meetings and alignment workshops.
• Support integration between planning, construction, commissioning, and shutdown teams.
Deliverables
• Refined baseline master schedule with documented basis of schedule (logic, productivity, crew sizes, calendars, shifts, allowances, lead times, and assumptions).
• Weekly schedule updates (XER and PDF formats) and lookahead reports.
• Ongoing maintenance of baseline and controlled schedule updates.
• Monthly progress and executive reporting inputs.
Key Requirements
Experience
• Proven experience as a Master Scheduler on large capital projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing processing plant shutdowns.
• Experience on smelter rebuild or similar heavy industrial projects (preferred).
• Experience working within an owner’s team environment.
Technical Skills
• Primavera P6 expertise (mandatory).
• Strong understanding of shutdown logic, sequencing, and field-driven scheduling.
• Ability to integrate real-time field progress into schedule updates.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
Personal Attributes
• Strong site presence and ability to engage effectively with construction and operations teams.
• Clear communicator with the ability to support decision-making at management level.
• Detail-oriented, disciplined, and comfortable working in schedule-critical environments.
Compensation: $50 to $67/hr depending on experience, classification, and contract structure. Final compensation will be determined based on candidate qualifications and client requirements.
