Material & Welding Engineer
Join our dynamic team as a Material & Welding Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in the subsea engineering industry. Role Overview
Development, review, and approval of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
Deep understanding of welding processes used in subsea fabrication, including GTAW (TIG), SMAW (Stick), GMAW (MIG/MAG), FCAW, and SAW.
Expertise in material selection for subsea environments, including carbon steels, stainless steels, duplex/super duplex, Inconel, and other nickel-based alloys.
Application of corrosion mitigation strategies and understanding of corrosion mechanisms.
Familiarity with international standards and specifications such as ASME IX, API 6A/17D, ISO 13628, DNV-ST-F101, and NACE MR0175/ISO 15156.
Oversight of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and interpretation of NDT results.
Supervision of welding activities at fabrication facilities and troubleshooting welding and materials issues during fabrication and installation.
Proficiency in document control systems and digital review platforms.
Familiarity with SPS (Subsea Production Systems) hardware including trees, manifolds, wellheads, and connection systems.
Skills & Qualifications
Subsea Engineering expertise.
Corrosion knowledge including mechanisms and mitigation strategies.
Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) development.
Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) management.
Experience with GTAW (TIG), SMAW (Stick), FCAW, and automated welding techniques.
Material testing and qualification experience.
Knowledge of ASTM G48, NACE TM0177, ASME IX standards.
Familiarity with Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI).
Proficiency in document control systems and digital tools.
Education & Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related field.
Certifications: Relevant certifications in welding or materials engineering are advantageous.
Experience: Minimum 5 years in materials and welding engineering within the subsea or oil & gas industry.
