We are currently searching for a Materials Logistics Coordinator to work at the Marine Storage Terminal, Tanga on a permanent basis.



Job Description:

  • Ensuring effective, safe, and compliant material control throughout the EACOP operations phase, covering imports, exports, customs clearance, warehouse management, stock transactions, dangerous goods handling, and inter-site logistics.
  • Ensures material availability, asset integrity, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted pipeline operations.

Reports to:

  • N+1: Head of Logistics
  • N+2: Marine and Logistics Manager

Main Responsibilities:


In accordance with policies and procedures in place in EACOP, The Materials Logistics Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Coordinating materials from international shipment arrival through storage, issue, transfer, and final consumption.
  • Ensure availability of materials to support operations, maintenance, inspection and emergency activities.
  • Maintain full material traceability from port of entry to point of use.
  • Coordinate the transportation of goods from suppliers to warehouses or distribution centers.
  • Plan and schedule shipments to ensure timely delivery to EACOP sites.
  • Monitor inventory levels and track shipments using logistics software.
  • Communicate with carriers, suppliers, and customers to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations.
  • Optimize transportation routes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
  • Prepare shipping documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate the performance of logistics partners and vendors.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance logistics operations.
  • Manage customs clearance and import/export documentation.
  • Coordinate cross-border material transfers between Tanzania & Uganda for EACOP facilities ensure compliance with:

    • East African Community (EAC) customs protocols
    • Transit Cargo Regulations
    • Bilateral Trade Agreement.
    • Liaise with Border Customs Authority.
    • Track and monitor cross border shipment to avoid border delays, demurrage charges and regulatory penalties.
  • Ensures all receptions, storage and exits of parts, chemical products in compliance with all safety and packaging standards.
  • Verifies purchase orders and receipts and ensures proper operation of products/services.
  • Coordinate handling, storage, and transportation of DG in compliance with:

    • IMDG Code (Sea)
    • IATA DGR (Air)
    • ADR / local road regulations
    • Ensure proper DG classification, labelling, packaging, and documentation.
    • Ensure availability and control of MSDS/SDS.
  • Proposes solutions to resolve operational issues encountered and if necessary, implement corrective actions with colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate records in ERP systems (SAP/Maximo).

    • Prepare material and logistics reports:
    • Inventory status
    • In-transit materials
    • Customs clearance performance
    • Inter-site movements
    • Ensure documentation complies with EACOP governance and audit requirements.

Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

    or Advanced Diploma

    in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

Experiences Required:

  • Good level in English required.
  • Knowledge of the processes used in operational logistics: transportation regulations practices, routes, contacts, best practices.
  • At least 5 years of experience in logistics or supply chain roles.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong logistics planning skills
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge of DG regulations (IMDG, IATA, ADR)/DG handling Training by GCLA-preferred
