Mechanical Engineer
Location: Tanga (primary location during readiness preparation will be Dar es Salaam)
Contract: Until December 31st 2026 (renewable)
Rotation / Set up: 8 weeks on / 2 weeks off
Expected starting date: April 2026

Role Overview
- Manage and support mechanical activities across four perimeters.
- Oversee main rotating equipment including export pumps, diesel generators, and fire water pumps.
- Provide support to site mechanical technicians and maintenance engineers.
- Administer service maintenance contracts for pump packages, genset packages, and local mechanical repair workshops.
- Optimize asset availability, operating costs, and asset efficiency.
- Act as the focal point for all rotating equipment.
- Interface with various entities regarding activity planning.
- Demonstrate exemplary behavior towards HSSE rules and ensure compliance within the scope of responsibility.
- Shape and develop a central role in the execution of mechanical maintenance activities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Commissioning expertise in mechanical systems.
- Experience in brownfield projects.
- Knowledge of security protocols related to mechanical operations.
- Familiarity with export pumps, diesel generators, fire water pumps, and maintenance contracts.
- Understanding of lubricants and their applications in mechanical systems.
Education & Experience
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in mechanical engineering or maintenance management are advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in rotating equipment and maintenance.
