Position Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Design Manager with a Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering background to support R&D-focused energy infrastructure programs. This role owns the full lifecycle of design and engineering for construction and infrastructure—from concept through delivery.
The ideal candidate excels in cross-functional collaboration, is exceptionally detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment requiring coordination across engineering, construction, R&D, and operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage design reviews and construction design packages, including SOW, kick-off, MDR, 30/60/90%, IFP, and IFC deliverables.
- Develop strategies for design and engineering deliverables, including permitting and construction packages.
- Own the end-to-end engineering and design process from concept through execution.
- Manage permitting processes, construction documentation, RFIs, and transmittals.
- Coordinate schedules with construction teams based on procurement and build timelines.
- Translate stakeholder requirements into actionable deliverables.
- Oversee technical planning, scope development, programming, design, and engineering through construction.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships to ensure program alignment.
- Apply various project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, IPD, Fast-Track).
- Implement innovative electrical and infrastructure designs in collaboration with Facilities Engineering, Construction, Self-Perform teams, and others.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of professional experience.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams within A/E firms.
- Strong background in complex MEP project management.
- Proven ability to lead engineering resources across disciplines.
- Track record delivering IFB, IFP, and IFC packages.
- Familiarity with VDC project management for manufacturing, industrial, R&D, workplace, or site infrastructure.
- Strong project management skills with ability to apply fundamentals to complex engineering challenges.
- Excellent communication and documentation capabilities; able to distill complex issues into clear, actionable plans.
- Positive, fast-learning, highly motivated mindset with passion for complex infrastructure development.
