Our client is seeking a Process Safety Engineer/Advisor to work within their facilities located in Sabine Pass, TX for an initial 1-year contract (with possibility of extension) and benefits.

Champion and leader of process safety excellence across our operations, embedding a strong safety culture through targeted training, field engagement, structured risk analysis, and leadership coaching. A dynamic communicator with deep process safety technical knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
Training & Development
- Design and deliver training materials for both in-person sessions and computer-based training (CBT) platforms
- Facilitate process safety training for Operations personnel across all shifts, including field and control room teams
- Conduct tailored training for Maintenance teams, focusing on hazard scenarios and safeguard awareness
- Provide ongoing training and communication support for Engineering and Project teams
- Support and train Critical Safeguard (CSG) owners to ensure clarity on roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations
- Develop and deliver leadership-focused training modules to enhance process safety ownership at all levels
- Facilitate leadership workshops and one-on-one coaching to build confidence in leading safety conversations and initiatives
Risk Management & Technical Safety
- Perform risk screening for new and modified processes, projects, and operational changes
- Lead or support structured risk assessments (e.g., Scenario Based, What-If, Checklist, LOPA, Bowtie) to identify hazards and evaluate safeguards
- Actively participate in HAZOP studies, providing technical insight and ensuring alignment with process safety standards
- Collaborate with Engineering and Projects to ensure risk mitigation strategies are integrated into design and execution
Field Engagement & Communication
- Develop and deploy field-facing materials (e.g., posters, bowtie visualizations, digital signage, branded safety collateral) to reinforce hazard scenario awareness
- Ensure visibility and alignment of process safety messaging with existing PSMS and field initiatives
- Lead field walks and coaching sessions with site leadership to promote active safety engagement and hazard recognition
Qualification & Experience
- Engineering degree in Chemical, Process, Mechanical, or Process Safety Engineering (or equivalent)
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience in process safety field
- Knowledgeable in Petrochem industry & Regulatory requirements
- Preferred competency in consequence modelling tools (e.g. Phast)
