Job Description – Procurement Specialist
Job Purpose
Monitor and expedite all contractor procurement activities, including Long Lead Items (LLI). Ensure a Procurement & Materials program that meets project needs, is cost?effective, expedient, and fully compliant with company policies and procedures.
Responsible for expediting and ensuring the delivery of critical procurement items, including novated materials, and providing timely updates to management on potential delays along with recommended mitigation measures.
Major challenges of this role include:
- Understanding key project drivers to ensure delivery within the agreed timeframe.
- Operating in a high?pressure environment with short deadlines to complete procurement?related activities and assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in maintaining alignment within the Project Management Team (PMT) on procurement needs, objectives, and requirements through effective compliance with procurement processes and procedures.
- Support the Procurement Lead in developing coordination procedures for procurement by reviewing and approving all procurement?related procedures, tools and templates.
- Support the development of purchasing plans, seeking input from Sourcing Specialists as required.
- Facilitate approval processes for any deviations from procurement plans, policies, or procedures. This includes coordination with technical, planning, operations, and supply chain teams for matters such as cost adjustments, change orders, and claims.
- Report on all procurement activities, including progress, issues, risks, and mitigation actions taken to prevent delays or negative impacts.
- Support the implementation of effective expediting mechanisms to ensure timely delivery of all packages, equipment, and materials in accordance with the project schedule, including logistics coordination for all planned deliveries.
Qualifications
- Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Law, Engineering, Accounting, Business Management/Administration, Commercial disciplines, or other relevant fields
Experience
- 8 years of diversified oil and gas operations experience
- Minimum 5 years as a Procurement Specialist in major projects
