Production Manager – Job Description
Overview
The Production Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of manufacturing
or production activities. This role ensures products are produced safely, efficiently, on time,
and to the appropriate quality standards. The Production Manager works closely with
operations, quality assurance, maintenance, supply chain, and leadership teams to optimize
workflows and meet production targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Coordination
? Develop and implement production schedules to meet daily, weekly, and monthly
targets.
? Allocate resources (labor, equipment, materials) effectively to maximize efficiency.
? Coordinate workflow between departments to ensure uninterrupted operations.
2. Team Leadership & Supervision
? Manage, train, and evaluate production staff.
? Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
? Hold regular meetings to communicate goals, progress, and operational issues.
3. Quality & Compliance
? Ensure all products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
? Implement quality-control measures and corrective actions when needed.
? Collaborate with QA teams to reduce defects and nonconformities.
4. Process Improvement
? Analyze production processes to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements.
? Support lean manufacturing, 5S, or other operational excellence initiatives.
? Monitor KPIs such as output, downtime, scrap rates, and cost efficiency.
5. Equipment & Maintenance
? Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and ensure proper
equipment functioning.
? Monitor equipment utilization and recommend upgrades or replacements when
necessary.
6. Inventory & Materials Management
? Work with supply chain and procurement to ensure adequate raw materials.
? Reduce waste through accurate forecasting and efficient material usage.
7. Reporting & Documentation
? Prepare reports on production output, performance metrics, and issues.
? Maintain accurate production records and ensure compliance with company policies.
Qualifications
? Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or related
field (preferred).
? 10 years of carton production or manufacturing management experience.
? Strong leadership and communication skills.
? Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
Key Competencies
? Able to handle 4 Flexo machines, 6 Stitching machines, 1 auto die cut machine and
assembly processes.
? Able to manage 3-acre size of production plant.
? Technical understanding of manufacturing processes.
