Production Utilities Panel Operator

Position Overview

This position focuses on monitoring and controlling all operating conditions of Utilities, Storage, and Loading within an LNG facility, utilising DCS panel technology. The role is tasked with ensuring continuous, safe, and efficient operations to support production targets. The company operates in the oil and gas sector, with significant emphasis on maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental management throughout all activities.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Leadership & Strategy

  • Promote safety culture and adherence to HSE policies, procedures, and continual improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure safety of personnel, environmental protection, and technical integrity of equipment within scope of activities.
  • Support maintenance and improvement of ISO 14001 Environment Management System requirements and other management standards.

Quality Compliance & Oversight

  • Perform roles defined by the Company Work Permit System, including PTW opening/closing and SIMOPS management plans.
  • Manage and record inhibitions of plant safety devices, ensuring proper follow-up and safe return to normal conditions.
  • Participate in risk assessment, technical reviews, safety audits, incident analyses, and emergency response planning.

Project Execution Support

  • Monitor and control Utilities, Storage, and Loading parameters to ensure smooth operations and achievement of production targets.
  • Support Utilities and Storage/Loading Operators to maintain coordination between plant activities.
  • Reduce and optimise flaring by optimising plant performance and taking corrective actions as needed.

Reporting & Performance Management

  • Update and submit process parameter deviations and operational summaries to the CCR Supervisor.
  • Log main operational events and conduct handover at the end of each shift.
  • Assist in the testing and documentation of plant safety equipment, including SDV/ESDV/BDV tests and checks.

Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Undertake ongoing training and development, assess progress, and pursue opportunities for personal improvement.
  • Train and mentor future panel operators in DCS use and ICSS architecture.
  • Participate in alarm reduction working groups to improve performance and streamline operations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor or higher education in Applied Science, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent (international standard).
  • Minimum 10 years of production experience in oil, gas, or petrochemical industry.
  • At least 5 years as LNG Train or Utilities Panel Operator.

Key Competencies

  • Excellent knowledge of DCS panel operations, Safety Shutdown Systems (ESD, ESD1, ESD2, EDP1, EDP2), and safety bars.
  • High ability in troubleshooting process problems and upsets, including root cause analysis and functional reviews.
  • Strong command of English and proficiency with computer office applications.
