Job Title: Protection Engineer
Overview:
Company is providing technical expertise and project management support to Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation for the expansion and reinforcement of the country’s high-voltage transmission system. Company is engaged in the supervision, consultancy, and interface management of multiple major packages including GIS substations (132/11 kV and higher), high-voltage underground cable routes (66–400 kV), and overhead transmission lines (OHL). The projects involve the design review, site supervision, testing and commissioning, and warranty support phases. Company ensures that all works are executed in compliance with project standards, IEC/IEEE international standards, and the fast-track schedules required for Qatar’s growing power network.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and validate protection philosophies and relay settings.
- Supervise testing of numerical relays and trip logic schemes.
- Review protection coordination and contractor submissions.
- Support fault analysis and troubleshooting.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Power Systems.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in protection system design/testing
- Knowledge of IEC 60255, IEC 61850, and numerical relays.
