Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced QA/QC Lead to support offshore rig-based well activities for a major development project in Mozambique. The successful candidate will oversee Quality Assurance and Quality Control for all major services, ensuring that equipment and materials comply with Company’s requirements and international standards.

This role covers both the preparatory phase and the operational phase of the drilling campaign, working closely with onshore logistics bases and offshore drilling units.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Control Management

  • Supervise all QA/QC activities in warehouses and yards, ensuring alignment with Company’s requirements.
  • Implement and manage service quality plans, ensuring timely availability and compliance of materials and equipment.

Vendor & Equipment Oversight

  • Manage inspection activities related to equipment manufacturing, including:

    • Third?party inspector qualification
    • Purchase Order reviews and inspector allocation
    • Review of inspection reports
  • Monitor and follow up on Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) issued to equipment manufacturers.
  • Conduct audits for qualification and performance review of local manufacturers.

Supplier Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and distribute Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for local equipment suppliers.
  • Lead service quality meetings with equipment and service providers.
  • Recommend, initiate, and track corrective actions to address identified issues.
  • Analyze equipment failures, incidents, or downtime to determine root causes and propose preventative solutions.
  • The position works closely with teams in Maputo (main office) and Pemba (logistics, QA/QC, HSE).

Accountabilities

  • Ensure robust QA/QC oversight for all major drilling and completion service providers.
  • Guarantee service quality and equipment integrity throughout the well construction lifecycle.
  • Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency within the Drilling & Wells function.
  • Operations will utilize one or two drillships, with well designs ranging from 2,000 m to 3,150 m below the mudline.
  • Drilling operations take place offshore in 700–1,400 m water depth.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post?high school technical qualification or relevant engineering degree.
  • Minimum 10 years of offshore drilling and completion operations experience.
  • Strong knowledge of drilling/completion tools and equipment.
  • Familiarity with API Q1 and API Q2 quality management systems.
  • Valid BOSIET certification.
  • Fluent English; comfort working in multicultural environments.
