Job Purpose
Perform quality assurance and quality control inspections on materials, maintenance repairs, modifications, and replacements for static equipment, process piping, storage tanks, and associated components. Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and standards. Coordinate and witness destructive and non-destructive testing at various locations, including plant areas, warehouses, and contractor/vendor workshops, supporting operational requirements for projects and expansions.
Relationships
Internal
- Frequent interaction with Plant Inspection, Asset Maintenance, Shutdown, Maintenance Workshop & Support Services and Warehouse.
- Regular contact with Operations for permits/asset related activities.
External
- Regular co-ordination with fabrication/shutdown contractors for repair/replacement/modification works.
- Regular communication with NDT contractors for required NDT inspections.
Job Responsibilities
- Performing inspection and implementation of QA/QC requirements for pressure retaining equipment during repair/replacement/modification works, ensuring alignment with operational standards for new and expanded facilities.
- Ensuring QA/QC compliance and works as a job leader for planned/unplanned shutdown jobs to support the successful handover to the permanent asset.
- Inspect materials and equipment (valves, piping, gaskets, fittings, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, etc.) and verify certificates against purchase orders, codes, and specifications.
- Support development and qualification of welding procedures, witness tests, and maintain records for welding procedures and welder qualifications.
- Coordinate periodic inspections of gas cylinders and portable tanks, maintaining certification records and databases.
- Witness or conduct destructive and non-destructive tests to confirm material compliance.
- Provide QA/QC services during planned and unplanned shutdowns, ensuring proper work permits and compliance.
- Participate in shutdown planning meetings, site visits, and review pressure test waiver proposals.
- Review contractor QA/QC documentation (quality plans, inspection/test plans, WPS, welder qualifications) for maintenance and project works.
- Perform QA/QC activities including welding, NDT, heat treatment, pressure testing, GRP/FRP inspections, and composite wrapping as per specifications.
- Close maintenance work orders related to QA/QC in SAP and upload inspection reports in Meridium.
- Conduct audits on suppliers and contractors’ QA/QC systems and submit reports for review.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- AWS-SCWI or CSWIP 3.2 (or equivalent).
- Professional certifications in API 510, 570, 653 (as applicable).
- ASNT/PCN Level-2 in UT, MT, PT, RT or advanced NDT techniques.
Experience
- Minimum 4 years in material inspection, fabrication, welding, NDT, testing, and coating activities within the oil and gas industry.
- Prior Living Quarter/Jacket QAQC Experience
- Strong knowledge of international codes and standards (ASME, AWS, ASTM, API, NACE/ISO).
