Position Title: QC Inspector (Mechanical – Multi-Function)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced QC Inspector (Mechanical – Multi-Function) to join our team for a major Oil & Gas project. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in quality control across multidiscipline construction environments, with a focus on mechanical systems, welding, and inspection of exotic materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement company management system elements relevant to your function.
  • Ensure safety compliance for all activities under your control and actively participate in safety initiatives.
  • Prevent environmental pollution during project execution.
  • Coordinate and attend inspections, tests, and punch listing on behalf of company.
  • Review project-specific inspection documentation to ensure contract compliance.
  • Implement quality inspection procedures for construction activities, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Verify contractor documentation for inspections, tests, and surveillance meets project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and reports.
  • Ensure calibration and documentation of all measuring and testing equipment.
  • Conduct site surveillance to identify non-conformances and assist in corrective/preventive actions.
  • Liaise with field supervisors and contractors to plan and monitor NDE activities.
  • Support Sr. QA/QC Engineer in reviewing QA/QC documents (QCPs, ITPs, WPS/PQRs, material approvals, MRBs, dossiers).
  • Monitor and witness fabrication, installation, inspection, and testing of structural steel, piping, pipelines, tanks, heaters, rotating/static equipment.
  • Oversee welding, NDT, PWHT, hardness testing, alloy verification, and painting activities through all project phases.
  • Participate in receiving inspections for permanent materials and verify documentation for traceability.
  • Follow up on corrective actions and close out non-conformances.
  • Track contractor performance and report trends of non-compliance.
  • Initiate surveillance reports and NCRs for approval.
  • Maintain all QA/QC documentation and records.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Formal training in Quality Control and membership in a recognized professional institution preferred.
  • Mandatory certifications:

  • BGAS Grade 2 / NACE Level 2 Painting Inspector
  • CSWIP 3.2 / AWS-SCWI Senior Welding Inspector
  • ASNT NDT Level II
  • Equivalent internationally recognized certifications may be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years for degree holders or 15 years for diploma holders in similar roles within the Oil & Gas sector.
  • GCC experience is desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with CRA Clad/Lined pipelines, flow lines, and piping/equipment of exotic materials (DSS, SDSS, Ni, Cr).
  • Strong knowledge of QC processes and testing requirements for major Oil & Gas/petrochemical projects.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment.
