QC INSPECTOR (WELDING, NDT & PAINTING) – Qatar
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Mandatory Certifications:
- Senior Welding Inspector: CSWIP 3.2 / AWS-SCWI
- Painting Inspector: BGAS Grade-2 / NACE Level-2
- NDT Level-2 in RT, MT, UT & PT (ASNT/ACCP)
- Equivalent international certifications are acceptable.
- Additional API certifications (API 570 / API 936 / RTRP / other API Inspector certs) are an advantage.
- Preferably with formal training in QA/QC and QMS Internal Auditor.
Experience
- 10 years (Degree holders) or 15 years (Diploma holders) in a similar role within the Oil & Gas sector.
- GCC experience is desirable.
- Strong knowledge in Welding, NDT, Heat Treatment, Painting/Coating, and related quality/testing requirements for major Oil & Gas process plants and cross?country pipeline construction.
- Familiar with international codes & standards:
- ASTM, API, AWS, ISO, BS EN, SSPC, NACE, IOGP, Shell DEP, MESC, etc.
- Hands-on experience in:
- Qualification & testing of Welding/NDT/WPHT procedures
- RTRP/Painting/Coating systems
- Assessing Welders, NDT Technicians, Blasters, Painters, Laminators
- Experience with welding of various materials including Inconel, DSS, SDSS, Ni, Cr, and other exotic alloys.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Review and understand project specifications and inspection documentation.
- Implement quality inspection procedures for construction activities, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Follow the 90?day look-ahead schedule, daily work plan, RFIs, and coordinate with focal points to ensure all planned Welding/NDT/Painting activities are covered.
- Verify availability of latest approved documents, drawings, qualification IDs, and calibration certificates at job sites.
- Witness qualification and testing activities, including Welding/NDT/WPHT, RTRP/Painting/Coating systems, and personnel qualifications.
- Conduct in-process, stage, and final inspections; review RT films; witness repairs; verify completion of welding/NDT/painting for piping spools and test packs.
- Monitor weekly welding/NDT status and welder performance.
- Ensure traceability and proper storage of tanks, piping, pipeline components, paints, and welding consumables as per approved procedures.
- Conduct surveillance on on-site/off-site fabrication, welding, NDT, painting, and coating activities to identify potential or actual non-conformances.
- Provide feedback on recurring quality issues and follow up on corrective actions.
- Ensure all inspection, measuring, and testing equipment have valid calibration.
- Assist in reviewing and approving method statements, JHAs, QCPs, ITPs, MARs, and participate in quality walkthroughs.
- Monitor performance of contractor/subcontractor/third?party inspectors and support competency improvements.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, third parties, and construction teams.
- Implement and enforce applicable Quality Management System requirements.
- Work on construction sites and in prevailing climatic conditions for at least 80% of the time.
- Ensure personal safety and the safety of others affected by ongoing activities.
