Airswift is currently seeking a Safety Specialist to work in Prudhoe Bay, AK for a major client in the Oil and Gas industry in a 12-month assignment. Rotational schedule 14/14. Only candidates fully authorized to work in the US will be considered.
Job Objective:
Supports safe, compliant, and efficient operations. It involves close collaboration with field leadership, employees, and contractors to identify potential risks, strengthen safety systems, and promote a culture of accountability. This role ensures compliance with applicable regulations and drives continuous improvement
Essential Job Responsibilities:
• Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate health, safety, and environmental risks through field presence, inspections, and hazard recognition.
• Partner with field leadership and crews to promote safe behaviors, coach on safe work practices, and reinforce company safety standards.
• Lead and participate in incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented.
• Support emergency response readiness, including spill response, drills, and incident command support as required.
• Conduct and facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and targeted training sessions to engage and inform the workforce.
• Monitor contractor and vendor compliance with company safety expectations, including prequalification reviews and periodic audits.
• Assist with internal and external audits, inspections, and reporting to regulatory agencies.
• Maintain and update company safety policies, procedures, and the Alaska Safety Handbook (ASH Book).
• Track and analyze safety performance data, identify trends, and recommend preventive actions.
• Adheres to the company’s values – integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment, and innovation.•
Other Job Responsibilities:
• Ability to be available 24hrs per day while on-shift for emergencies, etc.
• Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
• Stay current on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and safety innovations through training, professional development, and networking.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in oil and gas operations, production, safety, regulatory compliance, and/or environmental programs.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and State of Alaska safety and environmental regulations.
• Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analyses.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); other safety management systems/software a plus.
• Ability to work in Arctic conditions.
• Ability to work a fourteen (14) day on, fourteen (14) day off/ 12 hours per day hitch schedule.
• Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHST, HAZWOPER, or EMT are preferred but not required.
Education Requirements:
• Required: High school or GED equivalent; or any equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the duties of the position.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university or college, or related experience.
