Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Tanga, Tanzania (office based)
Contract: Until December 2026 (extendable)
Rotation / Set up: 8 weeks on / 2 weeks off 

The Senior Electrical Engineer will act as the electrical authority for MV and HV systems, supporting site electrical activities and mentoring local technicians. This role involves managing electrical service contracts, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and overseeing maintenance and inspection of critical electrical equipment and systems.


 

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Electrical Isolation Authority and ensure safe operations of electrical systems.
  • Oversee electrical maintenance activities, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical assurance.
  • Manage electrical service contracts (UPS, HVAC, lighting, vendor maintenance).
  • Prepare and validate commissioning, shutdown, and operational procedures.
  • Optimize electrical systems for reliability and cost efficiency.
  • Supervise spare parts management and ensure compliance with maintenance strategies.
  • Mentor and train local engineers and technicians, fostering capacity building and team spirit.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety rules and international standards.
  • Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Certified MV and HV engineer.
  • Proficiency in English (oral and written).
  • Strong knowledge of CMIMS and electrical international standards.
  • 15–20 years of experience in the energy sector, including 3–5 years as site electrical authority.
  • Expertise in power generation, distribution, control systems, HV/LV switchboards, motors, ECS, and PMS.
  • Proven experience in mentoring and training programs.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent awareness of HSE compliance.
