Job Title: Technical Field Application Engineer
Duration: Initial 1 year contract, long term extensions expected
Workload: Full-time hours
Setup: Freelance (Daily rate / Limited Company / Umbrella / Sole Trader)
Location: Frankfurt, Germany
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Field Application Engineer to lead testing, provide technical support, and drive customer engagement for cutting-edge wireless broadband solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead testing activities: lab setup, internal testing, field validation, certification, and troubleshooting.
- Act as the technical point of contact for pre-sales and post-sales support.
- Deliver product demos, training sessions, and technical guidance.
- Translate customer requirements into tailored technical solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering, QA, and software teams to improve product design.
- Document test results and contribute to RFIs/RFPs.
- Possible occasional trips across UK, Europe, and Taiwan.
Must-Have Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT/engineering (Master’s preferred).
- 5+ years in technical FAE or technical account management roles.
- Strong expertise in WiFi standards, testing, and certification.
- Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills.
- English and German at B2 level.
Nice-to-Have:
- Knowledge of 4G/5G cellular technologies and network topology.
- Familiarity with open-source platforms (RDK-B, OpenWRT, Prpl).
- IoT protocols (ZigBee, Thread, Matter).
- Programming experience in C/C++, Python, JavaScript.
- Additional EU languages and Mandarin are nice to have.
