Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Piping Designer to lead the design and development of piping systems for offshore, onshore, and energy-related projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, hands-on drafting expertise, and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities throughout all project phases.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Develop detailed piping layouts, isometrics, and 3D models using industry-standard CAD/3D software.
- Produce P&IDs, equipment layouts, pipe support details, and material specifications.
- Ensure all design deliverables comply with project requirements, codes, and industry standards.
- Conduct site surveys, gather field data, and incorporate findings into design updates.
- Review vendor documents and integrate technical information into the piping design.
Project Coordination
- Collaborate closely with process, mechanical, structural, and instrumentation teams to ensure seamless design interfaces.
- Participate in design reviews (Model Reviews, HAZOP, Constructability Reviews) and incorporate feedback into design adjustments.
- Work with project managers and engineers to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
Technical Leadership
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers and drafting teams.
- Review and approve drawings and documents prepared by the design team.
- Troubleshoot design issues and propose practical, safe, and cost?efficient solutions.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Design, or related field.
- 7–12 years of experience in piping design for offshore, FPSO, refinery, petrochemical, or energy sector projects.
- Strong proficiency in:
- 3D modelling tools (e.g., E3D, PDMS, SmartPlant 3D, AutoPlant, SolidWorks)
- 2D drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD)
- Solid understanding of international piping codes and standards (ASME, API, ISO, etc.).
Skills
- Strong analytical, problem?solving, and spatial design capabilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver accurate, high-quality drawings.
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience in brownfield modifications, offshore operations, or FPSO conversion projects.
- Ability to conduct clash checks, coordinate MTO, and resolve interdisciplinary issues.
- Familiar with piping stress considerations and equipment interface management.
