Senior / Principal Instrument Designer
Location: Surrey (3 days office based / 2 days remote, hybrid working)

Duration: 2–3 months
Position Overview
This position supports a major oil & gas project and involves the timely preparation and delivery of Instrumentation and Telecommunication engineering documents crucial to the execution of project requirements. The role will require adherence to project and company standards and direct support of the lead designer in order to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance throughout the engineering phases.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Drafting Activities
- Ensure the production of block diagrams, instrument indexes, location layouts, hook-up drawings, installation layouts, cable schedules, cable routing plans, and control and rack room layouts.
- Develop and update wiring and termination diagrams in accordance with project specifications.
- Complete material take-offs and detailed bills of material for assigned work packages.
Project Documentation & Standards Adherence
- Support the lead designer by ensuring all deliverables meet the required procedures and standards.
- Maintain quality and accuracy of project engineering documentation in line with client-specific requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Expert use of AutoCAD for the creation and modification of engineering drawings.
- Strong experience producing a range of technical deliverables related to instrumentation and telecom systems in the oil & gas sector.
- Ability to interpret and apply company and project standards, procedures and technical specifications.
