Senior Subsea Valves Engineer

Location: Perth, WA
Type: Contract (12 months, with potential extension into execution phase)
Start: ASAP
Work Arrangement: Office-based with occasional travel to vendor, site, or testing facilities


About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Subsea Valves Engineer to support a major offshore development project currently in the FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) phase. This role will be instrumental in progressing the project toward a successful Final Investment Decision (FID) and into the execution (EPCI) phase.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for the Subsea Valves package across design, procurement, fabrication, qualification, and testing.
  • Act as Technical Authority (TA-2) for subsea valves.
  • Lead and support technical bid evaluations, vendor clarifications, and assurance reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with FEED contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure successful integration and delivery.
  • Support the development of technical scopes of work for execution phase contracting.
  • Identify and manage technical risks, ensuring alignment with project risk management processes.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, participating in HSE reviews and contractor engagements.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Civil, or Subsea Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 7+ years of experience in subsea oil & gas project delivery, with a focus on large bore subsea valves.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant standards and codes, including:
    • API SPEC 6DSS, API SPEC 17D
    • IOGP S-708, S-561, S-562
    • ASME B16.34, DNV-ST-F101
  • Proven ability to manage interfaces between vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Experience with major offshore projects and familiarity with Ichthys systems is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills in a multi-disciplinary, multicultural environment.
