Site HSE Representative
The site location is at Mid North region of South Australia
Contract duration: 2.5 - 3 years
Working mode: Mon - Fri
Utility-scale wind farm construction project in South Australia (rural). The Site HSE Representative serves as the Principal’s dedicated health, safety, and environmental authority, ensuring a safety-first culture and regulatory compliance across all construction activities.
Key activities to be undertaken:
• Act as the Principal’s HSE Representative on site.
• Champion a safety-first culture and ensure adherence to HSE regulations and site protocols.
• Monitor, audit, and report on HSE compliance for each contractor with approved management plans, project agreements, and approvals.
• Develop project-specific HSE audit tools as required.
• Perform HSE audit tracking and closeout activities.
• HSE reporting, including contractor performance, incidents, hazards, hours worked, etc. (as input to monthly and other project reports).
• Identify gaps or non-compliances between contractors’ HSE plans and initiate corrective actions.
• Monitor field implementation of the Project HSE Management system for ongoing compliance with Australian legal, client, and GHD requirements.
• Plan, schedule, and undertake audits of contractor safety management systems.
• Undertake HSE job reviews, audits, inspections, and lead field HSE assurance activities as required.
• Collaboratively engage with client teams and contractors on site.
Qualifications, skills and experience required:
• Recognised tertiary qualifications in a Health, Safety and Environment discipline.
• Previous experience in HSE systems for projects in the renewable energy industry would be well regarded.
• Thorough understanding of current HSE issues and demonstrated experience in the interpretation and practical application of relevant HSE-related legislation and statutory requirements, preferably in the renewable energy sectors.
• Prior project/field experience commensurate with project complexity and scope.
• Ability to advise and manage contractors and resources in the provision of HSE services in the field.
• Strong communication skills to effectively engage, motivate, and inspire team members and build rapport with contractors.
• Collaboratively engage with client teams and contractors on site.
• Ability to handle pressure and manage conflict in a calm, reasoned manner.
• Commit to and drive a high-performing and collaborative culture.
• HSE Auditor qualification would be an advantage.
• Able to work independently in remote environments and manage competing priorities.
