Site Inspector
– Theodore, LA
Our client is seeking a Site Inspector to work within their facilities located in Theodore, LA, for an initial one-year assignment.
Responsibilities
Site Inspection
- Conduct daily and periodic inspections of all construction activities associated with the API 650 inner bell replacement, ensuring full compliance with design specifications, Owner requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Observe contractor work for welding, coating, dimensional checks, rigging readiness, and overall field execution.
Quality Assurance
- Verify that materials, workmanship, weld quality, coatings, and installation activities meet project quality standards, API/ISO criteria, and ITP hold/witness points.
- Identify, document, and track deviations, non-conformances, and required corrective actions.
Documentation
- Maintain detailed field inspection records including photographs, daily logs, ITP verification, weld/NDE reports, coating DFT/holiday results, lift readiness checklists, and function testing documentation.
- Review contractor daily reports and produce concise Owner-level construction summary reports.
Issue Resolution
- Work with contractor supervision and Owner stakeholders to resolve field issues related to welding, coatings, dimensional tolerances, rigging/lift preparation, and function testing.
- Ensure corrective actions are executed promptly and closed properly.
Communication
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractor representatives, and crane teams to provide clear updates on inspection findings, schedule risks, lift readiness, and testing outcomes.
- Support change/RFI discipline from an Owner’s-rep standpoint.
Safety Compliance
- Enforce site safety practices, including confined-space, hot-work, atmospheric testing, wind/weather stop criteria, and daily JSA/toolbox talk participation.
- Report safety violations and recommend corrective improvements.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in industrial construction inspection or construction management (tanks, pressure vessels, structural steel, piping, or API 650 work preferred).
- Hands-on field QA/QC experience: weld fit-up/visuals, RT/PT witnessing, coatings QA (DFT/holiday), and disciplined documentation.
- Working knowledge of API-650, ISO weld acceptance criteria, and OSHA construction safety requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and field decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interface confidently with contractors and Owner teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 for reporting and documentation.
Preferred:
- API 650 or floating bell experience.
- ASNT LII (UT/RT/MT/PT), AMPP/NACE LII/III, CWI/API?653, OSHA?30.
- Rigging/Signal Person Credentials.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
