Title: Site Investigation Specialist
12-Month Contract??(Possibility of extension)
On-site at Spring, TX or Remote
Travel: Expected to periodically travel to Houston campus
Overview
We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced individual to provide site investigation expertise for global conventional oil & gas exploration, appraisal, and development projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with multi-discipline teams (wells / geoscience / service companies) to apply the appropriate site investigation techniques, technologies, and procedures for analysis with integrity and to a high standard to work ethics. The position is located at Spring campus in Texas or remotely.
Responsibilities
Integration and analysis of geophysical, engineering geophysical, geotechnical, and offset well data
2-D and 3-D seismic interpretation of the shallow subsurface from mudline to below the surface casing point for each drill well
Application of AVO/DHI Analysis
High-resolution seismic survey design and oversight
Geologic scenario development
Shallow hole section well planning, surveillance, and post-drill reporting
Vendor contracting, supervision, and evaluation
Knowledge and application of Company's internal requirements and government regulatory requirements
Report findings through regular meetings and written reports
Liaise with pore pressure/well planning specialists, business unit geoscientists, and drilling engineering to ensure the best well plan
Adopt safe work practices and use equipment provided for health and safety purposes in accordance with Company safety policies
Conduct operations and activities in accordance with Company environmental policies, Codes of Environmental Practice and environmental guidelines
Other duties as required at the direction of the Geohazards Supervisor
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Geology/Geophysics (PhD preferred)
>10 years’ experience working a wide range of offshore & onshore site investigation projects involving site survey design and geohazard screening with a specialty in utilizing advanced QI methods (e.g. FWI, seismic inversion). Experience working site investigation working Guyana, Eastern Mediterranean fields, Australasia, Brazil, West Africa, Lower 48 and CCS preferred.
Experience interpreting drilling logs, core, geologic and geotechnical data to evaluate shallow hazards for new wells and drill centers.
Proficient in a wide range of applications including Petrel, RokDoc, Paleoscan, ArcMap, Kingdom and data analytics tools such as Spotfire or Power BI
Proven track record of mentoring others in geohazard/site investigation analysis and workflows. Leadership and project management experience within the SI discipline preferred (e.g. coordination of seismic/geotechnical data acquisition programs and supervision of contractors)
Ability to work cross-functionally with civil & marine engineering, drilling engineers and operations geoscience stakeholders to ensure optimized and safe well designs.
Strong knowledge in Site Investigation best practices and external standards and regulatory environments
