Job Title: Senior Technician (Control System)

Primary Purpose of the Job
Responsible for testing instrument and control systems, verifying circuit continuity, and ensuring system compatibility and safety using tools such as HART communicator. Must be able to interpret hook-up and loop drawings, Cause & Effect charts, P&IDs, and Sequence of Events (SOE). Handles maintenance, inspection, and repair of radio equipment, telecom networks, and computer networks to ensure optimal performance.
Performs shop and field maintenance to keep telecom and control systems operating efficiently. Assists in applying standard engineering methods for control systems, including DCS, ESD, SCADA, and related equipment. Provides technical support for system integrity, troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and corrective actions. Participates in commissioning, pre-commissioning, and project handovers. Reviews vendor documents and attends technical meetings during project execution.
Principal Accountabilities
- Maintain working knowledge of electrical equipment in hazardous areas.
- Strong understanding of PLCs, Fire & Gas, ESD, DCS systems, and field bus technology.
- Basic computer and communication skills; collaborate with operations, maintenance, and project teams for troubleshooting.
- Ensure integrity and availability of all control systems in compliance with international standards and safety codes.
- Perform engineering support involving conventional practices and resolve complex design or coordination issues.
- Review detailed engineering documents from vendors/contractors and represent system management in technical meetings.
- Monitor defect reports for control systems and initiate corrective actions for DCS, ESD, SCADA, PLC, turbine and compressor control systems.
- Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including loop checks, functional checks, safety checks, SAT, and performance tests.
- Work with DCS, ESD, Fire & Gas, SCADA systems, field instrumentation, cabling, junction boxes, control panels, HMIs, transmitters, detectors, fiber optics, communication converters, metering systems, control valves, marshalling panels, PLC cabinets, Modbus, operator consoles, PAGA systems, RTUs, RF/microwave radios, switches, servers, GSM modems, etc.
- Perform corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on field instruments to ensure reliability and availability.
- Diagnose and calibrate malfunctioning systems using test equipment and hand tools.
- Adhere to safety policies, participate in audits, and assist with plant tours.
Qualifications / Skills / Experience (Mandatory)
- Diploma / HND in relevant discipline.
- Relevant certification in control systems.
- Minimum 7 years of similar experience.
- SAP experience is an advantage.
- Good understanding of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001).
