Job Title: Senior Civil/Structural Engineer
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in civil engineering.
- Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in structural design and construction for large buildings and civil/infrastructure projects, including at least 6 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong engineering knowledge and extensive experience in structural design.
- Registration as a professional engineer with a reputable international engineering institution is an advantage.
- Experience in water?retaining structures and dewatering systems is preferred.
- Solid understanding of construction activities and project management.
- Strong knowledge of relevant international and local standards, including BS, EN, ASTM, and QCS.
- Experience with pre?commissioning, commissioning, and hand?over activities.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Computer literate, including proficiency in MS Office and structural engineering software packages.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide high?quality technical design and engineering services in civil/structural engineering for assigned projects and ad?hoc technical support.
- Ensure technical integrity and quality of engineering deliverables while meeting project objectives related to safety, time, and cost.
- Perform civil/structural engineering activities through all project stages, from concept to handover.
- Review all project drawings and documents, including civil, structural, specifications, calculations, and material proposals, to ensure compliance with project scope, specifications, and relevant standards.
- Participate in and support project pre?commissioning, commissioning, and hand?over phases.
- Review and evaluate contract changes or variations, ensuring alignment with approved guidelines, codes, standards, and best practices. Provide recommendations for acceptance or rejection of technical deviations.
- Review and approve method statements prepared by contractors, ensuring scope compliance, and coordinate with them to resolve technical issues.
- Lead the QatarEnergy technical team and support the senior project engineer on all technical matters related to assigned projects.
- Coordinate with Qatar Registered Consultants (QRC) responsible for construction management and supervision.
- Evaluate technical bid packages for compliance with project scope and engineering requirements.
- Plan and coordinate the activities of a multidisciplinary engineering team to ensure timely delivery of technical services.
- Coordinate engineering designs, and develop and review multi?disciplinary work scopes to ensure clarity and completeness.
- Support development of technical competencies for self and team members, including mentoring and involvement in structured training programs for Qatari engineers.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
- Resolve technical challenges in civil/structural engineering and collaborate effectively to address interface issues with other disciplines.
