Primary Purpose of the Job:
- Support Offshore Engineering Department to review, update and apply Company standards and amendments to external standards. Plan and co-ordinate activities of a team of multidiscipline engineers for providing timely delivery of technical services to meet the project requirements. Perform Fiber Optic Link Budget
- Calculations, Data and Telephony Traffic Analysis, Capacity / Bandwidth Calculations, Public Address Sound Pressure Level Calculations. Telecom Equipment Power Consumption and Heat Load Calculations.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Ability to identify and utilise relevant engineering standards and Codes related to
- Telecommunication Engineering & Operations.
- Operating and controlling the installed (or virtual) Telecommunication system hardware and software.
- The application of Telecommunication infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components.
- Assists in producing outline Telecommunication system designs and specifications covering objectives, scope, features, facilities, management, reliability, resilience, security, constraints (such as performance, resources and cost), hardware, network and software environments, main system functions and information flows, traffic volumes, data load and implementation strategies, phasing of development, requirements not met, and alternatives considered.
- Takes responsibility for all stages of the life cycle for Telecommunication software/hardware and transmission media development of relatively simple communication systems, including investigation, analysis, specification, design, construction, testing, maintenance, upgrade and migration.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communications Engineering with at least 15 years in Oil & Gas, including 10 years in telecom commissioning for onshore/offshore facilities.
- Proven experience in FEED and EPIC projects, with ability to review and approve contractor deliverables and manage commissioning from engineering to handover.
- Strong technical expertise in offshore telecom systems (CCTV, UHF/VHF radios, PA/GA, IP telephony, telemetry, AIS, ACS, structured cabling, network management systems).
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and execute pre-commissioning and commissioning, lead multi-cultural teams, and resolve technical issues under pressure.
- Excellent knowledge of industry standards, HSE compliance, risk management (HAZID, SIMOPS), and offshore survival certification (BOSIET/FOET + CA-EBS preferred).
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and documentation skills, including proficiency in IT tools and ability to deliver projects safely, on time, and within cost.
