Job Title: Static Equipment Lead

Job Purpose

The Static Equipment Lead will oversee all static equipment engineering activities for the Offshore Project. This role ensures that technical requirements including project specifications and data sheets are fully aligned with project deliverables and standardized processes. The incumbent will support the Offshore Engineering Manager in delivering high-quality engineering outcomes.

Key responsibilities include providing expert guidance on mechanical/static equipment design, ensuring compliance with company and international standards, and enhancing asset reliability and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensure contractor’s mechanical equipment engineering for Topsides and Onshore Facilities (Offshore scope) complies with contract requirements, project codes, and standards.
  2. Review and approve contractor deliverables related to mechanical equipment; provide feedback on other discipline deliverables.
  3. Plan and schedule engineering deliverables to support efficient project execution and ensure alignment with company policies and project management systems.
  4. Participate in design workshops and ensure recommendations are implemented and actions closed (e.g., 3D model reviews, Lessons Learned, Value Engineering, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, Engineering Criticality Assessments).
  5. Support the Engineering Manager in monitoring contractor progress on static equipment documentation for Topsides and Pipeline disciplines.
  6. Coordinate with SMEs across disciplines to ensure endorsement of technical deviations from company specifications when necessary.
  7. Manage engineering interfaces for mechanical equipment across Topsides, Onshore Facilities (Offshore scope), Operations, and the Onshore Project Team.

Job Context & Challenges

  • Translate company requirements into efficient contractor deliverables.
  • Collaborate across multiple disciplines including Process, Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, Pipeline, Umbilicals, HSSE, and Risk.
  • Monitor engineering progress and ensure timely delivery of work scope.

  • Safety, Health & Environment: Ensure all activities comply with company safety, health, environment, and quality standards.
  • Qatarization: Support the development of Qatari employees (mandatory for expatriate staff).
  • Firewall Compliance: Adhere to anti-trust laws and internal firewall policies.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Sciences.

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years in mechanical engineering within major oil and gas projects.
  • Broad knowledge of engineering execution, design standards, offshore facilities, construction, and operations.

Technical & Business Skills

  • Strong leadership and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary, multicultural offshore teams.
  • Proficient in report writing and presentations.
  • High proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Computer literacy in professional office and technical applications.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical equipment, piping, pipeline, structural, instrumentation, telecom, and electrical systems.
