Job Title: Subsea QA/QC Specialist
Job Purpose
The Subsea QA/QC Specialist acts as the project’s quality focal point, ensuring full compliance with QA/QC standards across all phases of the subsea pipeline repair project. This role interfaces with internal stakeholders, EPC contractors, vendors, and third-party inspection agencies to support FEED, detailed design, procurement, and execution of subsea pipeline repair activities. The Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing the Project Quality Plan and ensuring appropriate QA/QC controls for all materials, equipment, and activities.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan, QA/QC procedures, and verification programs.
- Ensure adherence to company QA/QC systems including Qatargas Project Management System (QGPMS).
- Review FEED deliverables, engineering reports, and project specifications for quality compliance.
- Lead and conduct QA audits of contractors and subcontractors.
Project Execution Support
- Support tendering activities, including review of repair methodologies, inspection techniques, equipment, qualifications, bid evaluations, and vendor selection.
- Determine the nature, extent, and frequency of quality verification activities for the repair scope.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report inspection and testing activities for subsea repair works.
- Verify contractor and vendor quality deliverables against project requirements.
Technical Oversight – Subsea Pipelines
- Ensure repair activities adhere to approved repair methodologies and QA/QC standards.
- Provide SME?level guidance on subsea pipeline inspection, isolation methods, repair procedures, corrosion mechanisms, and integrity management.
- Support and review Underwater Inspection (UWI) activities, anomaly assessments, and follow?up actions.
- Coordinate and lead verification, certification, and acceptance activities performed by specialist third?party inspection contractors.
Project Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain effective interfaces with engineering consultants, offshore contractors, inspection agencies, and regulatory authorities.
- Participate in project coordination meetings and present QA/QC metrics to the PMT.
- Ensure QA/QC readiness for mechanical acceptance, commissioning, and project handover.
- Manage non?conformances (NCR/CAR), including root?cause analysis, disposition approval, and closure.
Safety, Health & Environment
- Uphold company HSE standards throughout all project phases.
- Support safe shutdown, depressurization, and re?pressurization operations.
- Respond rapidly to pipeline?related issues during offshore execution activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Valid BOSIET certification.
- Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor (IRCA or equivalent) with proven experience conducting QMS audits across all project phases.
Required Experience
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in QA/QC for Oil & Gas EPC/EPCM projects, including at least 10 years in subsea pipeline projects.
- Demonstrated experience in senior QA/QC roles on complex subsea pipeline repair or construction projects.
- Strong background in pipeline operations, integrity inspection, maintenance, design, or construction.
- Experience with specialized subsea pipeline isolations, CWC/sleeper repair, and corrosion management.
- Skilled in developing QA/QC plans, ITPs, material criticality ratings, and procurement QA processes.
- Proven experience in underwater inspection (UWI), coating inspection, source inspection, and expediting.
- Deep knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, DNV-ST-F101/F201/301, API SC 17 series, ISO 13628).
