Airswift has been tasked by a major client in the Oil and Gas seeking a Quality Engineer to work in Houston, TX for 1 year with possibility of extension.

As a Quality Engineer supporting Supplier Quality Management, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that suppliers and contractors adhere to quality assurance programs that meet the company's stringent requirements for design, manufacturing, and servicing of equipment. Based at the Houston-Westlake office, with significant interaction at major engineering and manufacturing contractor locations, you will develop and implement assurance and improvement strategies to drive continuous improvement in processes, focusing on standardization, simplification, and efficiencies.

Key responsibilities include planning and delivering the quality element of contractor and supplier qualification and capability assessments, managing supply chain risks, and implementing surveillance and oversight programs. You will work closely with suppliers to develop manufacturing quality plans that comply with quality management specifications such as ISO 9001 and API Q1. Additionally, you will conduct facility surveillance to ensure compliance with design, manufacturing, inspection, and testing requirements, and oversee verification programs either directly or through Third Party Inspectors (TPIs).

Your role will involve performance management of contractor and subcontractor quality programs, including the collection, evaluation, and reporting of critical quality management metrics. You will conduct root cause analysis of non-conformances, collaborate with suppliers to implement corrective actions, and develop quality questionnaires for supplier evaluations during RFPs. Supporting project leaders in deploying the Right-1st-Time (R1T) Program and planning supplier quality management activities to mitigate supply chain risks are also key aspects of your role.

Providing guidance, advice, and training to inspectors and third parties to ensure understanding of the project quality system and objectives, and building strong relationships with diverse functions and businesses, will be essential to your success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide oversight, assurance, and verification of suppliers and contractors to ensure the implementation of quality assurance programs.

· Develop and implement assurance and improvement strategies to drive continuous improvement, including standardization, simplification, and efficiency enhancement.

· Collaborate with business entities to plan and deliver quality elements of contractor and supplier qualification and capability assessment processes.

· Support the identification and management of supply chain risks as part of contracting strategies

· Develop manufacturing quality plans in collaboration with suppliers to meet quality management specifications such as ISO 9001 and API Q1.

· Conduct supplier facility surveillance and oversight to ensure compliance with design, manufacturing, inspection, and testing requirements.

· Organize, plan, and supervise verification programs directly or through Third Party Inspectors (TPIs) to ensure conformance with applicable company specifications and industry standards.

· Manage contractor and subcontractor quality programs, including the collection, evaluation, and reporting of critical quality management metrics.

· Perform root cause analysis of non-conformances and work with suppliers to implement corrective actions.

· Develop quality questionnaires and evaluate supplier responses during Request for Proposals (RFPs).

· Support the project leader in deploying the Right-1st-Time (R1T) Program with suppliers and contractors.

· Plan and drive supplier quality management activities to mitigate supply chain risks and achieve R1T objectives for procured equipment and materials.

· Provide guidance, advice, and training to inspectors and third parties to ensure understanding of the project quality system and objectives.

· Develop strong relationships and collaborate with a wide range of functions and businesses that sponsor and support the progression of project opportunities.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality engineering, supplier quality management, or related role.

· Strong knowledge of quality management systems and standards, including ISO 9001 and API Q1
· Knowledgeable with Subsea equipment such as Manifolds, Risers, Umbilicals, Flowlines, Trees etc 

· Proven experience in developing and implementing quality assurance programs and improvement strategies.

· Excellent problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

· Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control methodologies.

· Experience with supplier qualification and capability assessment processes.

· Ability to manage multiple projects and work with cross-functional teams.

· Proficient in data collection, evaluation, and reporting of quality metrics.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

· Willingness to travel to contractor and supplier locations as required.

· Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.

· Certification in quality management (e.g., CQE, CQA) is preferred.
