Job Title: Technical Safety Engineer

Role Overview
The Technical Safety Engineer will be responsible for conducting adequacy studies and gap analyses for fire protection systems, passive fire protection, and evacuation/shelter-in-place strategies in compliance with Shell DEP and QatarEnergy standards. This role requires strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to produce high-quality documentation and reports.
Key Responsibilities
Active Fire Protection System Adequacy – Gap Analysis
- Review firewater systems including hydrants, monitors, deluge, foam systems, and fire extinguishers.
- Validate hydraulic calculations, firewater demand calculations, ring-main layouts, and FW P\&IDs.
- Ensure compliance with Shell DEP and QatarEnergy standards.
Passive Fire Protection Adequacy – Gap Analysis
- Assess fireproofing design adequacy for jet fire and pool fire scenarios.
- Verify fire resistance ratings and compliance with relevant standards.
Escape, Evacuation & Shelter-in-Place Adequacy – Gap Analysis
- Evaluate muster points and SIP adequacy.
- Review evacuation routes and ensure compliance with Shell DEP and QatarEnergy standards.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 12 years overall, with at least 10 years in oil & gas projects.
- Hands-on experience in firewater systems, fireproofing design, and evacuation/SIP adequacy studies.

Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Chemical, or Safety Engineering).
- Relevant certifications in Technical Safety or Fire Protection (preferred).
Must-Have Criteria
- 10+ years in oil & gas projects.
- Proven experience in active and passive fire protection systems.
- Expertise in evacuation and SIP adequacy studies.
- Compliance knowledge of Shell DEP and QatarEnergy standards.
Nice-to-Have
- Advanced certifications in fire safety or technical safety.
- Experience in greenfield and brownfield projects.
