Job Title: Technical Writer
Department: Operations Support
Job Purpose
The Technical Writer is responsible for developing clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation—including operating procedures, standing instructions, and project-related materials. These documents must align with company competency assurance standards to support safe and efficient operations and the successful start-up of new projects.
Key Responsibilities
Documentation Development:
Create and maintain operational documentation in compliance with company policies, international standards, and ISO 9000 & 14000 requirements.Procedure Revalidation:
Regularly review and update procedures and standing instructions to ensure accuracy and relevance for safe and efficient plant operations.Criticality Assessment:
Evaluate and assign criticality levels to operational procedures to prioritize updates and reviews.Technical Writing:
Produce high-quality technical and safety documents that reflect industry best practices and company lessons learned.Competency Assurance:
Develop assessment packages for Operations and Maintenance procedures to support staff competency validation.Review Facilitation:
Coordinate reviews and gather input to ensure documentation reflects “As-is” and “As-built” conditions.Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to enhance operational documentation and mitigate business risks.Change Management:
Ensure technical changes are communicated and reflected across all relevant documentation and competency assessments.Operational Support:
Collaborate with Operations teams to develop procedural solutions for varying operating conditions.Document Review Administration:
Manage the review process to ensure stakeholder feedback is accurately captured and implemented.Graphics & Drawings Coordination:
Work with the Graphics Officer and Engineering documentation team to ensure updates to P&IDs are reflected in simplified drawings.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering or equivalent.Experience:
- Minimum 5 years in process operations within LNG production.
- At least 3 years as a technical author in the hydrocarbon or petrochemical industry.
Skills & Competencies
Language:
Expert-level proficiency in written and spoken English.Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS SharePoint.
- Skilled in desktop publishing, project planning, flowcharts, graphics, and technical drawing tools.
Soft Skills:
Strong coordination, analytical thinking, and technical writing abilities.
