We are currently recruiting for a Test Engineer to be placed in Loncin, Belgium and would be on a 6 month contract with the possibility of extension. The main function will be to support the development of high-tech systems in the defence sector. You will be responsible for the preparation, execution, and reporting of complex experimental tests that validate system performance and ensure compliance with stringent specifications. This includes both in-house and field testing at external (including military) sites.
Responsibilities
Define and write test plans and protocols in line with technical standards
Plan test phases and assign roles within multidisciplinary teams
Conduct TRRs (Test Readiness Reviews) and coordinate demonstration sessions
Define and implement instrumentation solutions (e.g., vibration, strain, pressure)
Lead test execution and ensure data integrity, safety, and compliance
Post-process test data and draft clear and accurate test reports
Archive raw and processed data in accordance with internal procedures
Maintain and calibrate test equipment and sensor chains
Contribute to design reviews with a focus on testability and accessibility
Support continuous improvement of the testing and special measurements unit
Skills / Qualifications
Degree in Engineering (mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronics, or related field)
Experience in test engineering, preferably within a defence or high-tech environment
Strong knowledge of instrumentation, data acquisition, and signal processing
Practical experience with vibration testing, thermal measurement, and strain gauges
Familiarity with standards like MIL-STD-810 is a plus
Willingness to travel 3–5 times per year for on-site test execution (3–15 days each)
Professional working proficiency in French and English
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with a safety-first mindset
