Adviser – Roads & Transport
Location: Roma QLD
Work Arrangement: Monday to Friday, 75 hour fourthnight
Contract duration: 4 months
Airswift is partnering with a leading energy operator to recruit an Adviser – Roads & Transport to support regional operations in Queensland. This role is responsible for managing road?use obligations and ensuring compliance with Road Infrastructure Agreements (RIAs) across council and state-controlled road networks that support field activities.
The Role
The Adviser works closely with internal operations teams and external stakeholders, including local and state councils, to ensure road access is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose. The position involves a blend of planning, technical assessment, and hands-on coordination to support both current operations and future infrastructure requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update traffic count data across council and state-controlled roads
- Develop, implement, and manage the Roads & Transport Coordination Strategy
- Produce traffic forecasts to support identification of future upgrade needs
- Conduct road safety audits to ensure suitability for different vehicle classes
- Represent the business in Transport Working Groups and council forums
- Negotiate road condition status (fit-for-use / not fit-for-use) and upgrade treatments
- Manage road upgrade packages through SLAs and monitor progress against plans
- Plan, procure, and oversee delegated road maintenance works under RIAs
- Maintain private bitumen road networks where applicable
- Share road network intelligence to support GIS mapping and internal safety systems
- Ensure compliance with company standards, EHS requirements, and governance frameworks
About You
The role suits someone with practical experience in roads or transport management who is comfortable working across technical, operational, and stakeholder-facing environments.
Experience & Skills:
- Experience in roads, transport, or infrastructure coordination roles
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with councils and regulators
- Capability in road asset management and infrastructure planning
- Experience with traffic data analysis, forecasting, and reporting
- Knowledge of road safety auditing and compliance standards
- Effective communication, negotiation, and time management skills
- Sound understanding of EHS requirements in operational environments
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in transport, infrastructure, logistics, communications, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated equivalent experience will be considered
