The Project
You will join the drafting office of a large LNG terminal in Zeebrugge, supporting daily operations, maintenance activities, and terminal expansion projects.
The role is embedded within an industrial, safety?critical environment, combining operational continuity with ongoing modernization and EPC(M) project integration.
You will work closely with maintenance teams, process safety engineers, project engineers, and operations to ensure that instrumentation and automation documentation remains accurate, compliant, and fit?for?purpose.
The Role
As an Automation & Instrumentation Designer, you will independently produce, modify, and maintain technical documentation related to instrumentation and industrial automation systems.
You play a key role in translating engineering requirements and safety regulations into clear, structured, and technically compliant drawings and documentation, while maintaining a pragmatic, field?oriented approach.
For expansion and EPC(M) projects, you will support the integration of project documentation into the terminal’s operational master documentation, ensuring consistency and long?term usability.
Key Responsibilities
Instrumentation & Automation Design
- Draft, update, and maintain instrumentation diagrams, loop diagrams, terminal block lists, and I/O lists
- Support maintenance and project teams with accurate and up?to?date technical documentation
- Independently analyze technical issues and propose pragmatic, compliant solutions
Project & Operational Support
- Collaborate with maintenance departments, process safety engineers, and project engineers
- Assist operational and maintenance teams during expansion projects
- Integrate EPC(M) project documentation into day?to?day operational documentation
Safety & Compliance
- Apply ATEX regulations and ensure practical, field?compliant implementation
- Support SEVESO?classified site requirements (experience is a strong advantage)
- Perform calculations for electrical cables (e.g. Caneco BT)
- Calculate intrinsically safe circuits
Tools & Software
- AutoCAD

Profile
Education
- Bachelor or technical degree in Automation, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
Experience & Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of field instrumentation and PLC?based systems (DCS, PCS, ESD)
- Familiarity with industrial networks and communication protocols
- Experience in LNG, Oil & Gas, chemical, or heavy industrial environments is a strong asset
- Ability to work autonomously while interfacing with multiple technical stakeholders
