Airswift is seeking an experienced Civil / Structural Design Engineer to support the Brunswick Nuclear Plant (BNP) Corporate Design Engineering (CDE) organization.

This role will support the capital engineering change (EC) portfolio for a two?unit nuclear facility, delivering high?quality civil and structural design solutions that support plant modernization, equipment obsolescence resolution, and long?term risk reduction.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop engineering change packages including scope definition, design inputs, technical evaluations, installation instructions, and testing requirements

  • Perform civil/structural design for systems such as piping, pipe supports, equipment mounting, foundations, weak link evaluations, and seismic qualifications

  • Research engineering issues, evaluate alternatives, and recommend design solutions for implementation

  • Support design changes through work order reviews, corrective action program activities, and field engineering support

  • Develop or revise design specifications, technical requirement documents, and engineering calculations

  • Prepare safety screenings and evaluations in support of engineering design changes

  • Revise design basis documents, drawings, and regulatory documentation impacted by modifications

  • Provide field support during implementation, including post?modification testing and design turnover to Operations

  • Act as Lead Technical Engineer or Responsible Engineer for assigned projects

  • Support installation activities that may occasionally require off?normal work hours

  • Ensure all work adheres to Duke Energy engineering standards and is verified and approved per governance requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BSCE) or equivalent technical degree with relevant experience

  • 10+ years of engineering experience in the nuclear industry, including Civil/Structural design modification preparation

  • Experience working within nuclear standard design processes

  • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear facility (training, clearance, and fitness for duty requirements)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to research complex technical issues, evaluate alternatives, and present sound engineering recommendations

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team?based engineering environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • Previous Civil/Structural Design Engineering experience at Brunswick Nuclear Plant

  • Experience with 10 CFR 50.59 evaluations and modification design in nuclear facilities
