Commissioning Lead – Preservation
The Commissioning Lead – Preservation is responsible for managing and supervising preservation activities across fabrication and site locations for a major offshore energy project. The role ensures that all equipment is preserved, maintained, and handed over in a safe, compliant, and operationally ready condition.
Key Job Accountabilities
- Ensure all equipment is effectively preserved, safe for use, and compliant with project requirements; act as a safety champion during preservation walkdowns.
- Monitor contractor preservation activities to ensure compliance with system completion methodology and correct use of the project database.
- Interface with project teams and departments to resolve preservation issues through proactive communication and collaboration.
- Ensure all preservation requirements are clearly defined within approved procedures and coordinate approvals for any additional requirements.
- Review vendor and supplier documentation to ensure preservation recommendations are incorporated into project procedures.
- Review and verify preservation records, databases, and tracking systems at fabrication and site locations.
- Coordinate with construction and testing teams to ensure preservation is not compromised by ongoing activities such as fabrication, testing, painting, or installation.
- Liaise with Operations representatives to align expectations and ensure a smooth handover.
- Audit, manage, and track construction and installation activities to ensure de?preservation and re?preservation are properly implemented and recorded.
Qualifications (Mandatory)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences.
Experience & Knowledge
- Minimum 8 years’ experience on large Oil & Gas or Energy projects, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
- Strong knowledge of project execution, engineering, construction, pre?commissioning, commissioning, and systems completion.
- Experience with preservation activities, corrosion, materials, mechanical systems, or related disciplines.
- Familiarity with LNG or offshore facilities, equipment, and vendors (e.g. compressors, power generation, control systems).
- Experience managing EPC contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Offshore experience is an advantage.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Expert ability to read and interpret P&IDs, datasheets, GA drawings, and technical procedures.
- Strong understanding of industry codes, standards, and contract technical requirements.
- Experience with preservation-related activities, including inspections, hydrotesting, chemical handling, lay?up, lifting, load?out, and integrity management.
