Mechanical Construction Supervisor/Coordinator -– La Porte, TX
Our client is seeking a Mechanical Construction Supervisor/Coordinator to work within their facilities located in La Porte, TX, for an initial 6-month assignment.
The Construction Supervisors/Coordinators are the client’s Engineering representatives on capital projects. The Construction Supervisors/Coordinators report directly to the client’s Corporate Engineering Manager of Construction or Construction Managers and indirectly to the client’s Project Leader or Capital Managers for capital projects. The Construction Supervisors/Coordinators are responsible for checking all contractor installations to ensure that they comply with engineering drawings, specifications, client’s requirements, latest applicable code requirements, work is executed in a professional and quality manner. The Construction Supervisors/Coordinators report capital project progress and problems to the Project Engineer or Project Manager. They must have a thorough knowledge of all construction drawings, specifications and standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitoring construction work for safe work practices, monitoring quality and compliance with project requirements, performing Job Observations.
- Ensuring that the client’s Safety Rules and Regulations are observed
- Monitoring construction progress and reporting potential delays.
- Witnessing special tests such as weld NDE/radiographs, hydrotests, loop checks, load tests, electrical testing, equipment alignments, etc.
- Coordinating inspection / QA operations with plant operations.
- Documenting all quality surveillance and test results.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in mechanical construction supervision or coordination within industrial facilities
- Experience working in operating plants (brownfield environments) on capital projects
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems such as piping, pressure vessels, exchangers, rotating and static equipment
- Knowledge of applicable mechanical codes and standards (ASME, API, etc.)
- Familiarity with QA/QC processes, inspection protocols, and construction testing activities
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards
- Strong safety awareness and confidence enforcing safety and quality requirements in the field
- Effective communicator capable of working across contractors, engineering, and operations teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting owner/operator organizations (chemical, petrochemical, refining, or similar)
- Prior experience acting in an owner’s representative or construction oversight role
- Background working with EPC contractors on capital projects
