Position: Construction Supervisor (Electrical & Instrument)
Location: Ras Laffan, Qatar (Onshore)

Job Purpose

The Construction Supervisor (Electrical & Instrument) is responsible for supervising and overseeing all electrical and instrumentation construction activities across assigned projects. The role ensures that execution is performed safely, within schedule, and in full compliance with project specifications, IFC drawings, and company standards.

The position supports both greenfield and brownfield projects, including normal operations and shutdown environments. Acting as the client’s on-site representative, the role ensures effective monitoring, coordination, and control of contractor and subcontractor activities.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Supervision & Execution

  • Supervise electrical and instrumentation construction activities in accordance with project execution plans and specifications.
  • Ensure all activities comply with company procedures, technical standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor site progress, identify risks or delays, and implement mitigation plans where necessary.
  • Participate in weekly construction meetings and provide accurate progress updates.

Contractor Management & Coordination

  • Coordinate and oversee contractors and subcontractors to ensure adherence to scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Review and approve construction method statements and ensure proper implementation at site.
  • Interface with third-party stakeholders and ensure alignment of activities.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with contractors through professional engagement.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Ensure strict compliance with company HSE policies, procedures, and safety programs.
  • Monitor safety performance on-site and actively participate in safety initiatives (e.g., Incident and Injury-Free programs).
  • Ensure all activities are executed under valid Permit to Work (PTW) systems and regulatory frameworks.

Quality Assurance & Control

  • Verify construction activities against technical specifications and approved standards.
  • Review inspection reports, test results, and ensure compliance before progression of work.
  • Identify non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Participate in site inspections, audits, and construction walkthroughs.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Collaborate closely with Project Engineering, QA/QC teams, and other discipline supervisors.
  • Liaise with operations teams on permitting, material access, and site requirements.
  • Report critical issues, progress, and risks to the Construction Lead and Head of Construction.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Instrument Engineering (or equivalent qualification such as Diploma).
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation construction within EPC projects (Oil & Gas preferred).
  • Proven experience in construction supervision, installation, testing, and mechanical completion activities.
  • Exposure to brownfield and greenfield projects, including shutdown environments.
  • Experience working on onshore and offshore facilities is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of international standards such as:

    • IEC, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, BS, NEMA, NETA
  • Familiarity with electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems installation and commissioning.
  • Experience with HVAC electrical systems (optional but advantageous).
