Job Title: Control Systems IT Engineer (CS?IT)

Location: Aberdeen, United Kingdom
Contract: Full?time (Hybrid — 3 days/week in office)

About the Role

We’re hiring a Control Systems IT Engineer (CS?IT) to strengthen cybersecurity across Operational Technology (OT) environments for a leading independent Oil & Gas operator. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in protecting, monitoring, and improving the security and resilience of industrial systems—working closely with Operations, Engineering, and vendor partners.

Reporting into the CISO function, you’ll ensure robust cyber protection of OT assets without altering control logic or instrumentation, focusing instead on secure network architecture, threat monitoring, vulnerability management, and incident response within live operational environments.

If you’re an OT?savvy cybersecurity professional with strong industrial networking experience—and thrive in high?stakes, safety?critical environments—this is an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful impact across a major energy asset portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Secure OT Architecture & Design

  • Design and implement secure OT network architectures.
  • Develop OT baselines, configuration standards, and hardening guidelines.
  • Review OT project designs to ensure cybersecurity requirements are embedded.
  • Establish effective network segmentation strategies.

OT Security Controls Implementation

  • Manage OT firewalls and IDS/IPS technologies.
  • Deploy and maintain OT monitoring and threat?detection tools.
  • Implement MFA and identity/access controls across OT assets.
  • Lead OT vulnerability management processes.
  • Embed cybersecurity requirements into project delivery, engineering controls, and regulatory compliance.
  • Govern third?party and vendor access to OT systems.
  • Act as a key participant in risk assessments and threat reviews.

Incident Response & Collaboration

  • Support OT incident response with SOC analysts, application teams, and infrastructure support.
  • Provide technical expertise during investigations, containment, and recovery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of cybersecurity experience, preferably in OT or industrial domains.
  • Strong understanding of industrial protocols and OT network architectures.
  • Experience with firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and secure network design.
  • Demonstrated experience working in live operational OT environments.
  • Experience integrating OT telemetry into SIEM/SOAR platforms.
  • Strong incident?handling capability in OT or critical?infrastructure settings.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross?functional collaboration skills.
  • Solid knowledge of Active Directory and domain structures.
  • Willingness to work ~90 offshore days per year (non?fixed rotation).
